Hi guys i'm trying to setup a Windows 7 x64 bit, but everytime right after it loads I get an error that the CPU is not x64 bit. CPU is a duel core AMD x64 bit 3800+. Screen shoot or error below. Thanks for any help on this I now it will install just fine on VM but its huge & runs way to many system processes.

PS. Running v 2.0.4 of VB

Did you remember to check the General -> Advanced properties of your VM and make sure that the Enable VT-x/AMD-V (hardware virtualisation) option was checked on?

With them on, 64-bit guests are do-able. But the option is not on by default, even if your host is 64-bit.

I tried to do that on the Windows host and it crashed unexpectedly with a CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT (STOP 0x101) error.

The, Enable VT-x/AMD-V option is grayed out. Anyone know why?

That's not going to help much. But, I would rather play it safe to use 32-bit Ubuntu, because even if the host PC is 64-bit and that Virtual Box does allow 64-bit guest OS, people can still run into problems getting their 64-bit guest OS to run.

According to a another thread, users started to complain that 64-bit guests do not work.

People have tried to enable VT-X/AMD-V as well as OP ACPI and PAE/NX, but it seems that it doesn't work and that this might either be a bug or a BIOS design limitation.

I'm gonna check the BIOS to see if that option is even available or not.

Windows 7 is not final. Don't expect support for non-final releases of an OS. Bugs are bound to be in them, this is just one of them.

Enable it in your BIOS or your CPU dont support this.
