Guest Additions don't work for Windows ME

Post by spamnchips »

I have Virtualbox 2.0.4 running on a Windows XP system. I also have the guestadditions.iso installed and it works for my Linux and Vista guests but for some reason it will not maximise ( CTRL F and CTRL G) the window on Windows ME. ANy ideas why this is please ?

Regards
John

The guest additions are only for Linux guests and Windows guests based on NT (Win2K, XP, Vista - not sure about NT4). WinME was derived from Win98 and hence (like Win98) isn't supported in that way.

Check this link :-

The discussion is about Win95/Win98, but much of it will apply to WinME also.

Upgrade to Windows CeMeNT :)

XP is the best solution as guest, the WinDOS-Versions are not supported very well.

That depends on what you are trying to solve. :-) Part of the fun of VMs for me is their ability to preserve legacy operating systems. For non-fun aspects then I agree that XP is the best (Windows) guest.
