Unable to start virtual machine

Post by skygen »

I keep getting this error when I try to start a virtual machine. I'm not sure if I need to add more information but this is what I have.

The virtual machine 'Xubuntu new' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'D:\VirtualBox VMs\Xubuntu new\Logs\VBoxHardening.log'.
Result Code:
E_FAIL (0X80004005)
Component:
MachineWrap
Interface:
IMachine {300763af-5d6b-46e6-aa96-273eac15538a}

Something keeps patching the .rsrc section of VirtualBoxVM.exe in memory, and that's what hardening doesn't like.

Any Anti-Virus solution in place other than Windows Defender?

For some unknown reason, VirtualBox cannot verify the signature of vcruntime140_1.dll, which is part of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2019 Redistributable Package. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the latter.
