Driver does not support OpenGL version: How do I update driver?

Post by RoHi1953 »

Host: MBP Catalina 10.15.7 i5 chip / Guest: WIN10 in VirtualBox 6.1.50

How do I update this driver? And, where do I find this 'Options -> Renderer' checkbox referred to by the popup?

Am assuming the driver is updated within VirtualBox(?) If so, the graphics controller (VirtualBox w/ 'MY VM' chosen -> Settings -> Display) pull down menu and 'Acceleration' are both grayed out. They show the Graphics Controller set to VBoxSVGA and Acceleration unchecked.

FYI:
I just got VirtualBox 6.1.50 and WIN10 installed (with the OpenGL warning), and my graphics program VCarve Pro installed and running. Aside from the graphics being slow, everything appears to be working, including mouse capture and USB access.

After the Windows install, the message was (paraphrased):
Your hardware / driver does not support the required OpenGL version
Software will restart using software renderer. After updating drivers, you can switch back by going to Options -> Renderer -> set 'use renderer' to 'NO'
