Windows Guest Crashed and now won't start

Post by RossW »

My Windows 10 guest seemed to freeze while I was updating my DropBox sync settings so I left it running to sort itself out, but when I checked later it apparently crashed (strangely, the MacBook said the external thumb drive was not ejected properly, but it was still plugged in). In any event, I now cannot start my VM:

Code: Select all

VM Name: Windows 10 (MacBook) 100GB

Could not open the medium '/Volumes/Win10 VM (256GB)/VirtualBox VMs/Windows 10 (MacBook) 100GB/Snapshots/{ded02b9a-03b1-47b7-b2fc-4ca3d8008d4d}.vdi'.

I do not have a backup - is there anyway I can recover this? I saw cloneVDI mentioned in other threads but don't think I can use that on a Mac.

This is more a "me too". I too have a need that I think I thin cloneVDI could help. in my case I am sealing with a Linux Guest riding on a Mac Host

I’m stuck, I think, as CloneVDI only runs on Windows and my other Win10 VM does not have enough free space to copy over my affected .vdi.
