greetings kind regards
am new to Virtual Box . am attempting to run a program originally written for Windows 95 . a shared folder containing the program is declared via "Settings : Shared Folders" . "Devices : Optical Drives : VBoxGuestAdditions.iso" is selected . "Devices : Insert Guest Additions CD Image..." is selected . i am given to understand the shared folder should then be made available via "My Computer" however it is not . kindly advise .
thank you kindly

Guest additions don't work on Windows 95, they won't even install, let alone run.
If you really want a shared folder you need to use a host only network interface and then create a folder and share it via SMBv1 so that both guest and host can see it.
Alternatively, you can use other ways to share files with the guest like creating an ISO and attaching it or trying the VISO using the Virtualbox's GUI.

Or use this approach: Unofficial guest additions for MS-DOS/FreeDOS/Windows3.x viewtopic.php?t=105823

You need to say which guest OS you're using. The host OS isn't that relevant. All you stated so far is that the application was written for Windows 95, but not which OS you're using to actually run it.
