Cannot Unmount CD/DVD Drive Dynamically
I am running Windows XP SP3 Professional as the host and Ubuntu 8.10 and the guest OS. I cannot dynamically mount or unmount the CD/DVD drive while running Ubuntu. I have to shut it down and then change the drive settings for the virtual system. This shouldn't be necessary and isn't something I've had to do with VirtualPC or VMWare. What's the trick to getting this to work? I've searched the Internet and haven't found any useful information.

Why not? This is absolutely standard functionality. If you are using the VBoxSDL interface then you do this through the Devices menu option. If you are using VBoxHeadless, then use the VBoxManage controlvm dvdattach command.DoubleHelix wrote:I cannot dynamically mount or unmount the CD/DVD drive while running Ubuntu.
