Win7 x64 Guest Guest Additions Unsigned

Post by FredBear »

I am using VirtualBox v7.0.12 r159484 on Windows 11 Pro.

I installed Windows 7 64 bit in a VM on my AMD R9 3900x machine and I cannot get the Guest Additions to run. If I run VBoxWindowsAdditions.exe I get the error message shown below.

I tried GPEdit.msc and allowed unsigned drivers, but that had no effect. I also opened the cert folder on the Guest Additions CD and installed the certificates, but still no go.

I can run and install VBoxWindowsAdditions-arm64.exe, but after rebooting, the guest additions do not run and I get the same message shown below if I try to run any of the .exe files in C:\Program Files\Oracle....

If I try to run and install VBoxWindowsAdditions-x86.exe, it complains that it is not the 64bit version.

I have a Windows 7 32bit VM and the Guest Additions run perfectly fine with that.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

7.0.12 Guest Additions for Windows 7 had a bug. You can try uninstalling them, then upgrade Virtualbox & GAs to 7.0.14, which is supposed to have the fix.

Thank you very much scottgus1. :D

I installed 7.0.14 and it did indeed correct the issue. I can now enjoy Windows 7 64bit in all it's glory ... lol
