Thanks for yet another release! :)
So far so good, I updated the guest additions on my XP guest and it seems to be working fine on a Fedora 40 host.
Speaking of Linux, given that Xorg/X11 is getting closer and closer to its end of support, is there any plan in the roadmap to introduce native Wayland support?

Hi FranceBB,

Host part does not support pure Wayland environment yet, but we made the first step towards Wayland in Guest Additions. Currently, "Development snapshots" (trunk) builds from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds have basic (text, html, images) Shared Clipboard functionality which can work with Gnome on (pure) Wayland guest. There is also initial support for Plasma on Wayland, but it rather buggy and unstable at the moment. If you would like to give it a try, you would need to install both host and guest parts from "Development snapshots". We do not have any feedback yet and if you would like to share your opinion -- please feel free to leave it here or in corresponding ticket https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/21716. Drag-n-drop and Seamless functionality will not work there, but Clipboard, Guest Screen Resize and Shared Folders (which is independent from Wayland) should.

7.0.14 new 3d implementation seems still broken and causing garbaged texts.
Using old pipeline workarounded the problem for now.

7 is DOA and much worse for me. Running pretty well patched Windows 10

First VB7 claims to be able to resize vmdks. I did not have enough space, didn't backup, tried to expand the disk and vb7 killed my disk.

Lots of lost work.

Tried to recreate an identical Ubuntu VM using VB7 with the same ISO, VB7 somehow does the install differently, bypassing the CLI screens but unfortunatly the resulting VM can't even open a terminal. Linux without a terminal is totally useless.

My advice wait a while for 7 to stabilize.

6 still works and can create Ubuntu VMs. Mount the ISO and Ubuntu's standard installer runs.

6 cannot run VMs created with 7 !
Cannot even delete VMs created with 7 !

If the error is related to the WAS Audio, then this is true. Features released after a version won't run on that version. You can set audio to what 6.1 uses, then the VM will run on 6.1.

Other points are fair. 7.0 is a new version and has bugs. Always good to have a backup, though, that's Computers 101.

@birdie:
And what keeps you from ignoring the warnings? Do they result in any errors?

PS: As you might have seen in the public SVN, they have been addressed recently, but the changes are only in the development snapshots so far, not yet in the test builds.

I don't like scarily looking kernel warning messages. They are never logged just for fun. Such warnings can result in data loss.

Fully agree: All VirtualBox versions including 7.0.14 are broken with Ubuntu guests running kernel 6.4 and later, even with 3D Acceleration disabled:

Reported defect #21955 VirtualBox 6.1.48 / 7.0.12, no progress
Reported defect #21981 VirtualBox 6.1.50 / 7.0.14, no progress

Requested to remove 3D Acceleration option which is still an experimental feature.

What am I missing, I know in the past vbox 7.0.x was made available via the extra repository, and it is several weeks after Oracle releases a new version before vbox shows up in the extra repository. I do like to wait for the repository version, but it's been at least 4 weeks since Oracle released 7.0.14.
Should I take a deep breath and continue to wait or is vbox no longer going to be available in a repository ?

What exact repository are you talking about?

For example, in Oracles's repository for Debian/Ubuntu/Mint, Oracle VirtualBox 7.0.14 was already available when being announced on Oracle's website.
