Cannot Boot BSOD: Host Windows 11_64, Guest Windows 10_64

Post by AbsolutNut »

Hi,

Unable to boot: BSOD "system service exception vboxwddm.sys" received.

I don't think it is a Hyper-V issue but could be wrong.

My VBox.log is attached.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

TIA
Steven

I should add that I have recently "upgraded" to Windows 11 from Windows 10 on the Host.

I have backed up the VM and I am going to uninstall Virtual Box and reinstall and try loading the machine back in to see if that clears the problem.

The posted log does not show Hyper-V enabled on the Windows 11 host:
00:00:15.178459 OS Product: Windows 11
00:00:15.178464 OS Release: 10.0.22631
00:00:15.723481 HM: HMR3Init: VT-x w/ nested paging and unrestricted guest execution hw support
Curiously, after the BSOD, the Guest Additions reverted from 6.1.4 to 5.2.8:
00:00:31.199642 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 6.1.4 r136177 '6.1.4'
...
00:01:09.838453 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 5.2.8 r121009 '5.2.8'
Were you trying to upgrade Guest Additions?

Does a new Windows 10 VM run?
