Guest additions installed but nor working

Post by ggirf14 »

I needed multiple reboot the get a new VHD file from an old Windows7 computer the get a good OS running.
I cannot get shared folders to work and other features from Guestadditions.
In the VM, I went to add / remove program to uninstall Guestadditions, reboot, re-install Guest additions, rebooted again and I still get the following notification:
The VirtualBox Guest Additions do not appear to be available on this virtual machine, ...

And I cannot see the shared folder.

I have read the manual, search for topics about Guest Additions, applied what I learn on a fresh new VM with same results.

Note that I'm manually running as admin thew file VboxWindowsAdditions-amd64.exe as the autorun gives me an error message about "Windows cannot verify the signature of the file....

Thank you for your time.

The version of VirtualBox 7.0.12, No Extension Pack in Virtualbox , and Guest Additions 7.0.12.
Host Windows 11 64 bit & Guest Win7 64 bit, 64 Gb of total ram on the host and 16 gb reserved to the VM

Guest Additions 7.0.12 is having problems on Windows 7 guests. Search through the forum for several recent topics, some today, that have a link to the 7.0 Guest Additions test build (I don't have my link notes just now).

Thanks for the lead I found viewtopic.php?p=542191#p542191
The solution from Simple07 worked for me; that is:
start an Administrative CMD and run "bcdedit /set testsigning on"
Rebooted and successfully installed VirtualBox Guest Additions 7.0.12.
