starting virtual box : could not load the settings

Post by omarie »

Hello,

I just come to install virtual box (v 2.0.4) on my computer (windows xp SP3) an i obtain an error message when i want to start the aplication.

Code: Select all

Could not load the settings file 'c:\documents and settings\marie\.vitualbox\virtualbox.xml'

start tag expected, '<' not found.
the xml file is created but is empty. I have done the install with the administrator account.

I hace intented to reinstall an repair virtualbox an install an older version (2.0.2) but the problem still persist.

does anybody have an idea how to solve this problem?

I i found nothing in the forum.

thanks

Install it from your own user account. Remove the whole .virtualbox folder from your user profile if you keep getting the error. Any VMs and VDI files you created are also removed, so unless you have a VM that is already working, make a backup first.
