WinXP Host and Bridged Networking

Hi!

I have created a virtual networking device and bridged it with my wired connection. Debian (in virtualbox) can't obtain an address via DHCP...

I have the detached the virtual device and tried it again. Windows displayes, that the device is trying to obtain an address (via the VBox internal DHCP) but didn't succeed. Is it possible that I have disabled the internal DHCP and so the device doesn't work in my virtual Debian?

Can anyone help, because I don't want to switch back to VMWare :-(

Thanks in advance!
Alex

Don't laugh, but I have solved the problem :-)

I have set a static IP to the virtual device (inside of the IP range of the physical device) and bridged the devices. Tata! Worked!

Debian now tries to obtain an address via DHCP and this works perfectly!

Take care,
Alex
