GuestAddditions [VirtualBox v7.0.12] on Windows 10

Post by Dalila »

Hi, Happy New Year to all of you !

I have installed Oracle VirtualBox v.7.0.12 on my computer -OS Windows 10- for a VM Linux Fedora.
But I have a doubt and I don't know if the installation is correct.

My question is : I can't activate the GuestAdditions (file : VBoxGuestAdditions.iso).
When I try on the VM Fedora window : Device/Peripheral => Insert CD image of Guest Additions
I get the following error message : "not possible to insert the virtual optic disk C: \Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxGuestAdditions.iso in the Fedora machine"
(however, the file adress is correct).

So, I kept the file : Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-39-1.iso
as it appears in the Storage = IDE Secondary Device.

Can someone help me ? How can I activate the GuestAdditions ?

Thanks !

Linux likes to grab really hard on its mounted CDs. You have to unmount the "CD" inside the Linux OS first, then eject it from the CD drive. Then you can insert another "CD" or ISO.

Hi,

First of all, excuse me for ma late response and thanks for yours !

Sorry, but I am not sure to have understand correctly your explanations.

I forgot to precise that I created a "Virtual Hard Disk" during the VM installation (cf picture).
So, I can't unmount or eject it.

Best regards

I regret that I don't know how to explain it better, since I'm not skilled in Linux. You'll have to ask on a Fedora forum how to unmount and eject CDs from Fedora's CD drive.

BTW the VM's "hard disk" is not the VM's CD drive.

"BTW the VM's "hard disk" is not the VM's CD drive."

oups... actually I read too quickly

You're right it's better if I ask on a Fedora forum.
