Hi all,
i've tried everything (e.g. dism. to remove HyperV, etc. as read in various threads around), but my virtualized PC
imported with Disk2VHD, runs well on other hosts (eg. windows server 2022, windows 10 ),
but not on this new PC (Acer veriton X 2690G, 8GB ram, NVME storage, i5-12400 12th gen.).
guest XP home 32bit ita
if i add more than 1 CPU it loads forever at the boot
if run with only 1 CPU it works, but really slow
it runs slow with or without virtual box addons
guest parameters: 1 CPU, XP 32bit, 3072 RAM, 128MB Vbox VGA, Chipset PIIX3, mouse PS/2, virtualization default with nested page
storage AHCI with ICH6 slow with or without use host cache, VHD primary IDE, SSD
i've tried to use all the same parameters i've on other hosts, but here on this PC it runs very slow
it seems low in I/O
of course i've uninstalled all the old video and storage drivers the old bare metal XP PC had (eg. adaptec raid, ati video card etc.)
let me know if you need more info
UPDATE: with chipset ICH9 now the guest VM start even with 2 CPU, but it's still very slow
thanks
massimo

Re: XP SP3 32bit guest under Windows 11 64bit new PC
I've noticed that i have the green turtle small icon on the status bar.
I've disabled in the Windows 11 host registry
Computer -> HKEY_local_machine -> system -> CurrentControlSet -> Control -> DeviceGuard
-> EnableVirtualizationBaseSecurity -> put to 0
also CORE isolation protection must be disabled
rebooted and now the XP guest VM runs very fast
the green turtle icon has disappeared and now i've the V blu icon instead
you can close the thread
bye

Re: XP SP3 32bit guest under Windows 11 64bit new PC
update:
i would like to add that W11 at each reboot of the PC turn on again and again the device guard flag into the registry
so the users should use a script that start at startup and set to zero the registry key
the Windows command "reg" can be used from the command line
i reccomend also to turn off Core isolation in the script at startup, since each Windows update turns it ON again

Please see HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active) for possible ways we know of to get Hyper-V permanently turned off, at least until the next Windows update.

"Core Isolation" was mentioned in the tutorial, though how to disable it has not been detailed yet that I have seen.
I have added your registry key to the DeviceGuard section. Thanks for the information!
