xVM VirtualBox on XP Machine

Post by techgeek40 »

I'm running Windows XP (SP3) with xVM (version 2.0.4)
Two things I'm running into that seems to be a problem or I am not doing something right.

I have "My Documents" shared - as there are some files on there I want to be able to use (documents and some pictures of my kids)

Even though I have in the Settings | Shard Folders the "My Documents" pathed - it is not showing up in Ubunut when I go into Places -

Also - I seem to be having an issue mounting my external hard drive -

Any help on this (yes, I have FULL admin rights to the computer - as it's my computer)

You want to be able to mount these file system directories both in your host and in your guest. You can only do this by using shared file systems: either normal networked NTFS shares offered by your host or by VBox shared folders. This second option is described in the User Guide. Have a read of the section.

You may have problems with Vbox 2.04. I haven't been able to use "shared folders' in 2.04. 2.02 works however.
