Some findings here, in case it helps anyone..
Linux (Manjaro) host here with NVIDIA, which updated itself to VirtualBox 7.
I then found that my Windows 10 Pro guest booted to a black screen.
I'm using VBoxSVGA
Enabling 3D acceleration solved the black screen issue, but I found fonts in menus in Visual Studio 2015 are weird/broken/illegible
Changing Ease of Access > Display > Simplify and personalize Windows > Show transparency in Windows and other settings there didn't seem to help
Trying to install Guest Additions 7.0.10; Windows spontaneously reboots with an error. Can't see shared drives.
Change Settings > Display > Screen > Monitor Count to 1; disable 3D acceleration.
Now can see shared drives, and VS 2015 fonts look correct.
So it seems, on my system:
- with VB 6 you could have Monitor Count 2 and 3D acceleration disabled and life was good
- with VB 7 Monitor Count 2 and 3D acceleration disabled results in a black screen
- with VB 7 Monitor Count 2 and 3D acceleration enabled, Windows boots but menus are broken in Visual Studio 2015
- with VB 7 Monitor Count 1 and 3D acceleration enabled, menus are broken in Visual Studio 2015
- with VB 7 Monitor Count 1 and 3D acceleration disabled, things work
cheers .. Jason
