Hi,

I'm using the portable version of VirtualBox to always carry around my small Debian Lenny Development Environment - or lets say that this is my plan.

But now that I have set up a virtual machine with 2 Hard Disks (one 4 GB and one 3,42 GB - it must be done because of the limitations of FAT32) and going to install the Debian Lenny via the Net Installer, I found out that the speed of writing and reading from the virtual drives are very slow. The USB Stick has a speed of ca. 22MB/s reading and 8MB/s writing. When I try to copy big and small files nativly on the Stick via Windows Explorer it doesn't take long and the Stick itself shows a fast blinking of the access indicator light. But under VirtualBox while the install routine is running and it says that he is accessing the (virtual) hdd the access indicator light on the stick doesn't blink as fast as it can. Is there something blocking the access?
When I run apt-get install after the Installation the download is as fast as on a normal system but when it goes to the unpacking and installing it slows down so much that an installation of KDE on a flat debian requires a hour of waiting.
And the start of KDE is first so slow that I can't work with it. But after some waiting (so 10 Minutes) the speed is so good that I can work (with some restrictions).

Any idea how I could solve this problem?
