VB 7.0.10 on Mac OS doesn't start

I just downloaded and upgraded by VB 7.0.8 installation to 7.0.10 (VirtualBox-7.0.10-158379-OSX.dmg)

When I try to launch VB, I get two error dialogs. The first says:

Could not load the language file /Applications/VirtualBox.app/Contents/MacOS/nls/VirtualBox_en.qm.

The language will be temporarily reset to English (built-in). Please go to the Preferences window which you can open from the File menu of the VirtualBox Manager window, and select one of the existing languages on the Language page.

After clicking OK, I get another error dialog:

Failed to acquire the VirtualBox COM object.

The application will now terminate.

If I reinstall 7.0.8 (VirtualBox-7.0.8-156879-OSX.dmg), everything works normally.

My system's specs are:

• Mac Mini (2018) (Macmini8,1)
  • 3.2 GHz 6-core Intel Core i7 8700B
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 2 TB internal storage
  • 2 TB external storage (USB SSD)
• macOS 11.7.9 (Big Sur) (build 20G1426)

Those messages indicate that VirtualBox is not properly installed. Perhaps installed for the wrong user.

This is a bug of the current VirtualBox 7.0.10 macOS installer (VirtualBox-7.0.10-158379-OSX.dmg). A new version is expected to be released in the coming days.

If you really know what you're doing, you can add the read-only permission for others to all files inside the directory tree under /Applications/VirtualBox.app as a workaround.

Thanks for mentioning this. I had a forum posting about this that was purged for some reason, but same exact same issue. Looking forward to the rerelease of this!

Yes, probably. When a new version comes out the devs reportedly monitor the "Discuss" topic for new things happening, so we like to put unusual things on a new version there in the topic.
