winxp schwarzer bildschirm

Post by antiager »

Hallo Forum!

Was mache ich falsch?

Danke!

Please provide a VM log file. Make sure the VM is fully shut down, then right click it in the manager UI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

I can offer one tip in advance: do not bother to enable 3D graphics acceleration for an XP VM, because the XP Guest Additions do not support it.

Hallo,

The Guest Additions are installed and uninstalled like any other Windows XP software, i.e. using the "Add or Remove Programs" applet in the Control Panel (tip: search for "Oracle VM VirtualBox Guest Additions").

Hello mpack,
I have done that, have also reinstalled the version
version 7.0.6 r155176 (Qt5.15.2) again.
Still my screen remains black.

Please post a new log, Andre, and we'll check if the older Guest Additions got installed and running.

00:00:21.797167 VirtualBox VM 7.0.6 r155176 win.amd64 (Jan 11 2023 16:38:38) release log
...
00:00:28.763842 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 7.0.8 r156879 '7.0.8'
Versions are still mismatched.

And by the way, if your goal is to install a different version of the Guest Additions then just go ahead and install them. You don't need to uninstall the old version first.

Hallo Profis,

In the XP OS, go to Control Panel, then "Add or Remove Programs". Find "Oracle VM Virtualbox Guest Additions". Uninstall them, then reboot.

In the VM window's Devices menu, choose "Insert Guest Additions CD Image". (Don't use "Update Guest Additions".) The Guest Additions "CD" will load into the XP CD drive. It is likely that the Guest Additions installer will auto-start. But if it does not, open the XP CD drive, then run "VboxWindowsAdditions.exe". After the install, reboot.
