No hardware acceleration avaliable, green turtle

Post by Dianafre »

Hello folks,

Hardware acceleration is not available on my Intel macbook Pro, the guest systems only run in compatibility mode and are very slow. It affects Linux and Windows guest systems.
I'm using Virtualbox version 7.0.8 r156879 (Qt5.15.2) on macOS Ventura 13.4.1 (22F82).
Hardware acceleration works for guest systems running in VMware Fusion on the same MacBook.
I'm at a loss and don't know what else I can do to enable Virtualbox guests to use hardware acceleration?

Can someone help me? any suggestions?
Greetings Diana

At the present moment, that's the best you can get in your circumstances. Ventura forces Virtualbox to use Apple's hypervisor, which means green turtle time. Workaround, don't use Ventura, then you can run Virtualbox 6.1, which can use Virtualbox's native Blue V hypervisor.

Time will tell if the devs can get around Ventura's requirements and get the Blue V back.
