cannot install virtualbox anymore

Post by dazilla »

Hi,
i had virtualbox 2.0.2 installed and used. Then i installed virtualbox 2.0.4 but the installation ended not successfully. Now i cant run my old or new version.
When i try to install vb again i get the error:
"Setup Wizard ended prematurely...your system has not been modified...run the installation again"

I cant work with it anymore.

Has anybody an idea?

thx

Is that with both the new version and old version of the installer?

I have this problem too, I am running Vista Ultimate x64 and I was only able to install 1.6.0 and 1.6.6, I get the Setup Wizard ended prematurely error with any other version. I was getting it with all versions of VB but I tried shutting down a bunch of programs I had running in the background such as Daemon Tools and Xfire and killed a few background processes/services like Punkbuster and somewhere along the line I was able to install 1.6.0 and then 1.6.6. I also use Avira AntiVir as my antivirus, but I paused it before all install attempts.

I wonder if there is some conflicting program messing with the VB install. Do you have anything like these? Any kind of virtual drive type app or virus scanner?

i think the problem came because i did not stopped my VB System before installing, i only paused my image. Maybe thats the problem. And now maybe any temporary file of vb is blocking!?!
