Unable to start Windows 10 - Aborted

Post by fabriziocacicia »

After some month of not starting my Windows 10 virtual machine I am not able to make it starts and I can't understand why.

The VM actually starts and Windows 10 boots, but it crashes after Windows trying to restore the OS session.

I attached the logs.

You have overcommitted both RAM and CPU. That balances it on a knife-edge whether it starts or not.

You need to free up a lot of host RAM before launching this VM. And I'd reduce the CPU allocation to 2 cores (out of 4 available).

Another thought:

Is this Ventura on a MacBook from 2013? Did you use OpenCore Legacy Patcher to let Ventura run on that old Mac? If so, Virtualbox has been seen to not run on OpenCore'd Ventura Macs.

Hmm. The first paragraph of the OP implied to me that the only change between <working> and <not working> was the passage of "some month". No mention of replacing the host OS with an unofficial build and installation method!

That's why we like those VBox.log files as a source of truth. ;)

With the hardware (MacBookPro11,3 -> 2013/2014) and software (22.4.0 -> 13.3) given by the log file, there's not much choice left. Kudos for scottgus1 for the detective work! :)
