Jerky mouse motion in Windows Vista

Post by dhonzik »

I am running the current verision of Virtual Box under Windows Vista. When I boot up into Windows XP Pro, I experience jerky motion with the Mouse. Is there any way to obtain smooth mouse motion. I looked into settings and there is no mouse settings

Hi,

A bit more information would be good: Is this an existing installation or did you create it in VirtualBox? Have you installed the guest additions (chapter 4 in manual)?

Regards,

Also: VBox software version. The amount of memory available to the host, and the amount of memory given to the guest. Also, once you see the symptoms, open the task manager window in the host and check CPU and mem use and for the VBoxSvc task.

I have the same problem (well, I think, it was not very clear), so let me continue this topic...

So the problem is : sometimes, the mouse is blocked, as if there was an invisible barrier. By trying to go round this barrier, the mouse acts as if there was an invisible small screen resolution. And by continuing to go round it, I manage to "break it" around 5 seconds later. Until the next same problem.

Now, the configuration :
- For me it is a XP Home, on a Vista 64 host (no problem for the host by the way).
- My screen resolution is now 1440x900, and I have installed the latest patch of the screen for XP.
- I have installed Guest Additions, but it didn't solve the problem.
- VBox version 2.1.0
- Memory of the Host : 4Gb. Given to the Guest : 2 Gb.
- As for the Task Manager in the guest, cannot give you the infos yet. I'll give you that ASAP.

If you need any more infos, don't hesitate !

It's me again, I have the rest. Just after the boot, without launching nothing, the computer uses :
- 200 Mb Ram
- 2% CPU

Hum... can I say something ?
I have always had strange things happening with computers. Another one : everything works fine now !
I don't know why. As usual. :D

Well, if somebody reads that because he has the same problem, install the latest drivers of the screen and Guest Additions, it's perhaps that who solve the problem.
It's a kind of magic...
