Choppy performance

I run Vista 64-bit ultimate and have the newest 64 bit VB.
I have 2g of ram allocated to VB running XP PRO and have a dual-core 3.2 AMD processor.
Now that you know that! When I go to run a certain game, Dune 2000, it runs slow, bad response time, to the point it is unusable. Task manager says guest is at 100% CPU usage but the host Task manager reports 50%. I tried everything, anyone want to send some tips my way?

Welcome to our forum. You might want to take this opportunity to browse the
Forum Posting Guide. This contains some useful tips on how to search for VBox knowledge and how to frame Qs.
The reason that your game runs badly is that the VBox VMM only virtualises a basic VEGA display and not the Graphics PU on your motherboard. Most modern games rely on this heavily, and when they fall back to CPU only, then they struggle badly. Graphics based games and VMs do not mix well. See the FAQ for more comment.s

This game is by far, not modern, its cpu req is 90 Mhz and runs in 640-480 with 256 colors. I see no reason why it would stress it THAT much. I doubt the problem is due to the processor handling the graphic portion of it considering the processor should be able to take on 30x the req. of this game. I dont see how the graphic problem is causing the program to run 3000% heavier. I have tested this with another leading brand and it works flawlessly, but I would prefer not to use those, but this is a virtualbox problem only.

Have you looked at the Guest Topic sticky that mentions what games run in VB? Did you also try it with less RAM?
And the reason your Host says it uses 50% is because only one core is loaded, and only one core is passed to the VM.
