vbox 2.0.4 not booting intrepid x64. I updated from 2.0.2 this morning and a previously working install of intrepid failed to boot with this message ..
kernel requires an x86_64 cpu, but only detected an i686 cpu
unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your cpu
I uninstalled 2.0.4, reinstalled 2.0.2 and booted correctly again. Any ideas on this?
little out of it .. pertinent info ..
Host OS vista HP x64 + fully supporting 64bit hardware
XP Pro (32bit) does run correctly. Was looking forward to this update because of these ..

Hi, can I suggest that you raise a ticket one this one? You need to register for a wiki user account (this is different to a forum account sorry) and then you can use the public Bugtracker to raise the ticket.

resolved
I still have to mess with it a bit to make sure, but it seems to be cleared up. I just reinstalled a second time and it booted intrepid correctly.
Seems to be fine .. when I upgraded to the new version, there must have been some 2.0.2 clingons floating around my system.

Ubuntu 8.04.1 only installs 32 bit on my 64 bit Vista host
I have a dual core AMD 64 bit system with 64 bit Vista. Virtualbox 2.04 installed just fine - my first experience with virtualbox. But when I tried to install Ubuntu 64 bit 8.04.1 I got a similar message about the wrong architecture OS for an i1586 processor. 32 bit Ubuntu 8.04.1 did install OK. But why can't I install 64 bit?

Re: Ubuntu 8.04.1 only installs 32 bit on my 64 bit Vista ho
See the manual, chapter 1.6, and the VirtualBox FAQ for that. You need a few settings for it to work properly.jimdruett wrote:I have a dual core AMD 64 bit system with 64 bit Vista.
