Ventura is not a supported host OS yet. Also, it could be possible that the update mixed versions. Uninstall Virtualbox, reboot, install Virtualbox again.

Ventura will not load the kexts (kernel extensions) used by VirtualBox 6.1.40 and earlier. You must use VirtualBox 7.0.2 (or later) on Ventura.

Thank you all for the quick response, things have been resolved!

Using Vagrant 2.3.2 and VirtualBox 7.0.2 but still facing issues trying to vagrant up on macOS Ventura (13.0):granada29 wrote:Ventura will not load the kexts (kernel extensions) used by VirtualBox 6.1.40 and earlier. You must use VirtualBox 7.0.2 (or later) on Ventura.
Code: Select all
Bringing machine 'homestead' up with 'virtualbox' provider...
==> homestead: Checking if box 'laravel/homestead' version '12.2.0' is up to date...
==> homestead: Clearing any previously set network interfaces...
There was an error while executing `VBoxManage`, a CLI used by Vagrant
for controlling VirtualBox. The command and stderr is shown below.
Command: ["hostonlyif", "create"]
Stderr: 0%...NS_ERROR_FAILURE
VBoxManage: error: Failed to create the host-only adapter
VBoxManage: error: VBoxNetAdpCtl: Error while adding new interface: failed to open /dev/vboxnetctl: No such file or directory

How that can be possible .... Nobody warm them about the fact than Apple is going to release it ? Or apple release Ventura by surprise, without any beta; candiate or dev release ???scottgus1 wrote:Ventura is not a supported host OS yet.
That's not serious ...

It is unreasonable to officially start solid developing for an OS in beta, until the OS stops changing. Sure, the devs know it's coming, and they're looking carefully, but why program for something today that may get changed tomorrow? Waste of time.Yacapa wrote:How that can be possible
Ventura apparently went official release on October 24. Today is the 27th. Gotta give them time. It usually takes a few months to get support for a new OS release. This is the way it was for Big Sur, Catalina, Monterey...

Probably installed VirtualBox v 7. I was having the same issue, and that worked for me.LeoBC wrote:Hello Tonubg, how did you solve it please? I am having same issue.Tonubg wrote:Thank you all for the quick response, things have been resolved!

nice! lucky you.bens4lsu wrote: Probably installed VirtualBox v 7. I was having the same issue, and that worked for me.
I installed 7.0.2 on my Ventura - and still experiencing same problem.
So upgrading to 7.0.x doesn't solve the problem.

By definition: if you had the same problem as the OP then doing what the OP did would have fixed it.good_guy wrote: I installed 7.0.2 on my Ventura - and still experiencing same problem.
Don't hijack another's topic: start your own, describe the problem properly, and provide a zipped VM log file.
Re: Problem after instalation macOS Ventura / Virtual box Version 6.1.40 r154048 (Qt5.6.3)
I had the same issue, same error code, same conditions (upgrading to Ventura) as OP had. Why would I start a new topic? The fact that Virtualbox has poor error notifications doesn't encourage users to create a topic each time they face same error code/message.mpack wrote:By definition: if you had the same problem as the OP then doing what the OP did would have fixed it.good_guy wrote: I installed 7.0.2 on my Ventura - and still experiencing same problem.

Anyways, my issue is fixed. I disabled 3D acceleration for my guestOS (which worked fine on previous Mac version). It's all about very generic and poor error notifications. And detailed error report isn't helpful either.

I was having the same symptom (couldn't restart my database vm) after upgrading to macOS Ventura.
I upgraded to Virtualbox 7.0.4, followed one instruction that popped up about my network configuration, and now things are back to running smoothly.

This is exactly why beta releases are for. It's not the host APIs are going to change radically halfway through the beta program.scottgus1 wrote: It is unreasonable to officially start solid developing for an OS in beta, until the OS stops changing. Hmm. Why do I doubt your impartiality or your ability to promise that?p10ben wrote:It's not the host APIs are going to change radically halfway through the beta program.
Face facts: the devs are dealing with a major new VirtualBox release and a major new Windows release with many new security requirements. So MacOS users will take a back seat.
