network connection problem using ubuntu as guest on XP host

Post by pashajee »

Hi friends,

I've installed the Sun xVM virtualbox 1.6 on my XP. Then I installed the ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty FAWN) as a guest OS.

I've a small problem that I can't connect to Internet or the shared network drives (shared through SAMBA) on the guest Ubuntu system. I've tried to use both the NAT and Host Interface options.

The network is established as I can see the "two monitors" blinking both in Host (XP) and Guest (Ubuntu), but I can't see the shared drive as well as cant connect to Internet.

If somebody could help me, it would be a great favor.

You have to be more specific about your network. Even though you said you treid NAT and HIF, you don't specify what you exactly did with them. If you did a simple ping to a site, then of course it won't work, NAT does not work with that.
For your Samba Shares, what did you do, how did you try to connect to them?
