USB1.0 on vb6.1.38 vs USB1.0,2.0,3.0 on vb5.2.44

Has USB 2.0 & 3.0 been dropped from vb or do I have another issue?

I was happily using v5.2.44 on Windows 7sp1 until I had to re-install windows.
I re-installed Windows 7sp1 and installed v5.2.44 running Windows XP and everything seems to work just fine.

However, I discovered that the latest (v6.1.38) has the feature of moving the virtual drive from C: to D:.

I installed v6.1.38 liking the feature of moving the VDI from C: to D:, but discovered that only USB 1.0 is functional(see attached).
I do NOT appear to have any other issues.

#1 Do I need to install an update of some sort to use USB2.0 and USB3.0 on v6.1.38?
#2 Or, if I revert back to 5.2.44, can I move the VDI from C: to D: and it work without glitches?
Please advise.
Thanks, Tracey [End-User]

You'd have to install the matching Extension Pack too.

The ability to move VMs existed long before the VirtualBox UI added a limited version of it. See Howto: Move a VM.

And btw, you move the entire VM folder, not just the VDI. There is nothing to be gained from scattering VM files across multiple drives.

Thanks for your feedback.
I always install extensions to match the current version.
I will try installing v6.1.38 again (after reinstalling Windows 7sp1 from factory disks) .

If not, I will switch back to v5.2.44 and manually move the VMs (about 10GB) to the D: drive to free up some space on C:
Thanks, Tracey
Windows 7sp1 comes with about a hundred updates, and I cataloged having about 400 updates before I had to re-install.
It may be that Windows 7sp1 needs to have some windows update(s) for USB2.0 & 3.0 to work in VirtualBox v6.1.38.

What went wrong when you did this:

Reinstalling Windows and Windows Updates won't get you USB 2 & 3 in the VM.
