Wireless adapter shown as ethernet

Hello people first post here.

I've set up a clean Kali Linux virtual machine on my laptop and completed all its updates.
I need it to use the wireless adapter of my laptop but no matter which settings or what adapter I choose it to use it only bridges the host connection to the virtual machine as an ethernet.

I want to see available wireless connections around me
But I keep seeing I am connected via ethernet and no trace of my wireless adapter.

I want to get to the point now, can I do it and how? Do I have to own an external usb wireless adapter?

Or can I deceive my host windows10 that it is a usb wireless adapter, not a wireless card.

The VM has an Ethernet adapter, not WiFi.

The hardware of your physical PC is not relevant.

Yes, if for some reason your Internet connection needs to use WiFi specifically then you'll need to get a USB adapter.
