How to enlage an existing .vdi file?

Hi there

QUESTION: How to enlage an existing .vdi file? Is that possible with VirtualBox (Beta 6.1.97) ? (And then i need to check if it's possible to enlage C:\ in Windows VM, but that's another business...)

(Windows 10 Pro x64 and SQL Server Developer Edition with most of its tools left 308MB on my 128GB .vdi file - WT....!?!?)

Maybe a complete installation will be faster (???) - but i will see it...

Thank you very very much for your feedback(s)... :-)

Thank you very much. In VirtualBox, it worked. (But not in Windows 10 Pro x64... maybe due to the small space left... -> https://answers.microsoft.com/de-de/win ... ab705ccfe9 ... but that's another thing, not VirtualBox-related... ;-)

Yes, this is correct, it is a function of Windows. Use the built in Windows dism management and extend the drive with it, it takes seconds and a reboot. Alternately you can use an aftermarket product like Minitool Partition Wizard.

Thank you very much. Problem was solved by delete old VM, set up a new one with 512GB and then re-install Win10 Pro x64 and SQL Server 2019 Developer Edition again... most fast way i.m.o., because it was not heavy customized...

Or you could just have read part 2 of the faq, which deals with that specific issue!

Or you could have used CloneVDI, which does both steps in one pass.
