Rev 153415 and Beta 153424 Both Fail to Install
Rev 153415 and Beta 153424 Both Fail to Install
As the subject read, rev 16.1.37 153415 and 7.0.0 Beta 1 153424 fail to install. I checked to be sure I have Secure Boot disabled, and it is. Host PC is Windows 11 build 22622.586. The installer goes so far and then very quickly faults and undoes all the changes. I cannot find a log file to submit. I also tried installing by using Run As Administrator and get the same result. As far as I know, Hyper-V is not active on this machine.
Host is Asrock X570 Creator motherboard, 64GB RAM, Ryzen 5950X, and AMD RX 6800 XT GPU.

What is rev 16.1.37 153415?Khun_Doug wrote:rev 16.1.37 153415 and 7.0.0 Beta 1 153424 fail to install
Please try this:Khun_Doug wrote:I cannot find a log file to submit.
Open a Run-As-Admin command prompt. Note that you personal folders may not be accessible to the Admin command prompt, so it may be good to put the installer in a public folder that all accounts on the PC can access, like "C:\Users\Public\Downloads", or make your own new folder "C:\VBinstall".
Enter this in the command line:
"C:\VBinstall\VirtualBox-7.0.0_BETA1-######-Win.exe "{space}--logging{space}--msi-log-file{space}"C:\VBinstall\textfile.txt"
So for your download it should read:
"C:\VBinstall\VirtualBox-7.0.0_BETA1-153424-Win.exe " --logging --msi-log-file "C:\VBinstall\msilog.txt'
Zip and post the log file, please, using the Upload Attachment tab.

Please try using the --force-install-timestamp-ca option like in the example below.
To install a VirtualBox 6.1.37 test build, open a Command Prompt with normal user privileges, navigate to the downloads folder and run the installation with the following commands:

Re: Rev 153415 and Beta 153424 Both Fail to Install
That resolved the problem. There was something new regarding Python, and then a message about something already existing. Ultimately it did install and I will do some testing later.
I am attaching the compressed log file. There should be information about the warnings/messages I got during the install.

Thanks for reporting back!
The Timestamp CA certificate needs only to be installed once per host BTW.
I don't know enough about the MSI installation procedure to comment on the other warnings/messages.

Re: Rev 153415 and Beta 153424 Both Fail to Install
As a quick guess, the other errors (found by searching for 'error' in the text, so I may have missed something) were about a dialog box positioning issue and trying to rename a host-only adapter. The install completed successfully, though, with an exit code 0, if I read properly.
Re: Rev 153415 and Beta 153424 Both Fail to Install
Yes, the install is working, and I have successfully installed Windows 11. I do see some display issues that I don't see on the host, or any of my VMware test machines. The most annoying thing is the X in the upper right is almost always invisible. I am trying different color settings to force the X to be visible. I also notice some of the menus seem opaque.
At least it's up and running and I can do some testing.

Is this in the Virtualbox window bar? Or inside the 11 OS in the VM?Khun_Doug wrote:the X in the upper right is almost always invisible.
If 11 has some of the video bones that 10 has, maybe the workaround to disable transparancy in the 11 OS might work?Khun_Doug wrote:I do see some display issues
