[Solved] new laptop and VM is extremely slow
[Solved] new laptop and VM is extremely slow
Windows XP 10 Enterprise with 10 cores, 32GB ram. The guest OS is an old Windows XP. For example, sending Ctrl-Alt-Delete to the guest OS will take 5 minutes to accept the input. This was working fine on my old laptop. Please let me know what information I can provide to help debug. thanks

Re: new laptop and VM is extremely slow
Try setting the VM to 2 processors if it is not already.
If that doesn't work, right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show Log.
Search the far left tab's log for this text:
Attempting fall back to NEM
If you find it, Hyper-V is enabled. You have two options:
A. Try Virtualbox 6.1.36 and matching Extension Pack.
B. Turn off Hyper-V. See HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).
If you don't find that text, save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
