I am having the same problem with an updated Ubuntu 22.04.
I rolled back to a snapshot before I has updated the latest Ubuntu updates, rebooted and it worked fine, so I don't think it's an Ubuntu problem.
After the reboot I installed the new VirtualBox Guest Additions for Linux over the top of the old one. The installer warns "If it is not up-to-date, you should get a notification when you start the system. If you wish to replace it with this version, please do not continue with this installation now, but instead remove the current version first, following the instructions for the operating system."
After typing YES and proceeding ignoring the warning above the symptoms come back, and right clicking the mouse does not work.
There is a package that is part of the Ubuntu Multiverse (virtualbox-guest-additions-iso) that maybe a better option than using the virtual CD.

Re: Terminal Not Opening in Ubuntu 16.04
Interesting info!
If you try again, this time uninstalling the existing Guest Additions before installing the new GAs, does the mouse work properly?
Note that official GAs in Linux have prerequisites, same as for Virtualbox on a Linux host, see https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04. ... ions-linux and https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch02. ... nux-prereq

You're certainy free to try it. And if you're also using a Linux host with the Linux distro fork of Virtualbox, which this forum does not support, then this might be the right choice. But you're posting in Windows Hosts, by which we assume you have a Windows host, which only uses official Virtualbox, so you should only use official GAs from the bundled ISO, not the Linux distro's fork of the GAs.M0JPI wrote:There is a package that is part of the Ubuntu Multiverse (virtualbox-guest-additions-iso)

Thanks for your advice. I agree the virtual CD is the best option, as then the Windows host and guest can be updated at the same time and with the official Virtualbox.
It still doesn't work properly even with an uninstall and install of the new GAs via the virtual ISO.
