VirtualBox kernel driver not installed

I get this error when trying to run any of my Linux machines.

VirtualBox kernel driver not installed.

Vbox status code: -1908 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0X80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {d5a1cdba-f5d7-4824-9afe-d640c94c7dcf}

Why is the VB kernel driver not installed?
