We had to build an XP (sp3) VM for legacy software. We're trying to get it installed. The VM is not reading the disk from the host DVD so we created two ISO files (there are two disks) and copied them to the host. We can see the ISO files when we click Devices and then try to load the .ISO file. The file loads fine (disk1.iso) but when we try to access it in the guest VM it constantly reloads the Windows XP installation CD!! We even renamed the XP install ISO file to ISO.2 and closed out the machine and restarted and STILL it loads the Windows XP installer! We added a 2nd DVD drive and loaded the other (disk2.iso) file in there and when we click on THAT drive in the guest it loads the Windows installer!!!
How can we flush the XP installer from whatever the VM is getting it from? We really need to get this software installed. Any help is appreciated.

I would think that you still have the installation disk assigned to the vm. How did you install XP? From an ISO or from a physical disk?
What does the optical drive look like in the settings of the vm? Does it show a CD assigned?
