Devices menu missing, missng cd rom

Post by doncell6 »

Running virtualbox 6.1.34 r 150636 . Host operating system is Windows 10, Guest is Windows 2000.
I inserted a cd into the cd rom drive. When I log into Windows 2000, go to My computer, instead of seeing a cd rom drive I see VBOX_gas_6_1_34.
Q1) What must I do to get the cd rom to show?

Q2.) Where is the Devices menu? I cannot find it.

Thank you for your help

That IS the CD drive. It is telling you that there is a virtual CD mounted in the drive called VBOX_ga_6_1_34. If you want to see the empty CD drive, eject the virtual CD from the drive.

You can do this from the Devices tab at the top of the vm window. Select Optical drives then select Remove disk from virtual drive from the dropdown list.

If you mount a physical CD in the CD drive of the host but want to read it in the vm you need to tell the OS that you want to do that. In the settings of the vm, go to Storage. To change the optical drive settings, select the optical drive then click on the blue disk icon on the right of the screen and select the option you need.
