On starting up the virtual machine, a job "A start job is running for Raise network interfaces" runs which causes the vm to stop working. Windows was updated prior to this issue occurring.
A similar issue occurred some months back after a windows update which was resolved by updating the VM to the latest version but this time the VM is already on the latest (6.1.32)

The following has been tried to resolve this issue but with no luck:

- rollback windows updates
- reinstall VirtualBox (full reinstall after uninstall)
- rollback VirtualBox version
- 'repairing' VirtualBox using it's install .exe file

Has anyone experienced a similar issue and what was the workaround?

What is this 'job'? Is it a Task Scheduler job? Does it run in the host or the VM?

The job is the message that shows up when you start the vm. The message being "A start job is running for Raise network interfaces".

Thanks. That message is coming from the OS inside the running VM. It's not coming from Virtualbox.

Start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM's OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.

Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Also, Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show in Explorer/Finder/File Manager. Zip the VM's .vbox file (not the .vbox-prev file), and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab. (Configure your host OS to show all extensions if the folder that opens does not show a .vbox file.)
