virtual vista > DSL internet conection does not work

Post by Besch »

Hi :D

Who can help me to connect my virtual Win Vista with the Internet ?

I still searched HELP als well as the FORUM, but I found nothing, that would help ...

Host system is WIN VISTA
Guest system is WIN VISTA, too

Host is connected via DSL Lan to the www. This is working quite well on the host system. Simply open IE or Firefox and I'm connected with the www.

If you ask why I want to have a host VISTA on a guest VISTA system ?
It's easy: There are some tools available in the www, were I'm not sure, if there is a virus in or not. So I'd like to test these tools on a virtual system, that easily can be restored, if affeced by a virus.

:?:
What will I have to do ?
Who can help ?

Thanks and kind regards

Network Settings > Add NIC: Intel/Pro1000MT Attachted to: NAT. Boot the VM, voilá, you have internet on the Guest.
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
VirtualBox FAQ: Check this before asking questions.
Online User Manual: A must read if you want to know what we're talking about.
Howto: Install Linux Guest Additions
Howto: Use Shared Folders on Linux Guest
See the Tutorials and FAQ section at the top of the Forum for more guides.
Try searching the forums first with Google and add the site filter for this forum.
E.g. install guest additions site:forums.virtualbox.org

By the way:

:!: @everboby looking for the same solution:
Network Settings > Add NIC: Intel/Pro1000MT Attachted to: NAT. Boot the VM, voilá, you have internet on the Guest.

is not to be found in the network settings of Virtual PC but in the settings of VIRTUAL BOX on the host PC.

It took me 1/2 hour try and error to find this detail....

Anyway: Having found "NAT" it worked....

:) :) :) :)
Thanks and kind regards
