Keyboard Vista host problem after running VBox for a while

Post by nidkil »

Hi,

I am experiencing very strange and frustrating problems when running VBOX. After a while this can vary from 1 hour to a few hours the host keyboard is mixed up. When I hit some keys Vista starts opening programs. It is as if the keyboard mapping of special keys has been set to the normal keys.

The only way I know how to solve the problem is by rebooting.

Anyone have the same problem or know of a solution?

Regards, nidkil

Do you switch between host and guest often? If you do, do you have any key pressed when leaving the guest? If you do, then the Guest will often think that you still have that key pressed when you disconnect the keyboard from the guest. The only way to get rid of that without a reboot is to press the key you held when releasing the keyboard a few times.

Hi,

Thx for the reply.

Yes, I do switch from guest to host often. How do I figure out which key was pressed when I switched?

Simple, keep yourself from touching the keyboard when you switch. That way, you won't accidently hold a key and making it 'stuck' in the Guest.
