resize to 1280 x 768 not 1280 x 800

I have xubuntu 8.04 guest running in windows xp host. After installing guest additions and going full screen it appears to run at 1280 x 768 instead of my screen's native resolution, 1280 x 800. I can't seem to get this fixed. Does anyone know how?

Without more information, we can't help you. Please provide more as we ask in the Forum Posting Guide. The VM should not be able to change the Host resolution, so unless you see black borders, you run on 1280x800. Or your Host runs on x768.

Sorry, the host is 1280x800. But when I run the guest in full-screen mode, I get a black line on top and below the guest OS screen. This means the guest is running at 1280x768. I would like true full screen (meaning the guest OS runs at 1280x800). Why doesn't full screen mode do this?

Host = Windows XP Pro SP3 running Vbox 1.6.4 OSE (i think), NAT LAN,
Guest = Xubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04) + guest additions

No, using the Host key + A should not matter, as the resolution in the window is lower than 1280x768.

Doormat, what you can do is either enter that resolution in your xorg.conf file, or remove any resolutions mentioned there. Have you also tried the Display Options? Set it to "Default", that will cause it to use the highest resolution possible.
