Slack app is not working when Oracle ubuntu VM is running

Hi team,

I am using Oracle ubuntu VM and experienced an issue as slack app is not working , it gets hang. Can anyone shed light on it.

Can you supply more technical details, like HOS OS, Guest OS details and slack version.
When you say hang what happens?
What is the steps you do to get aslack to hang? Do you have any additional plugins/integration additional bits for slack?
Is the PC controlled by corporate w.r.t. security and what apps can be installed?
What version of VirtualBox are you using? Can you please also include a log.

Please provide a VM log file. Make sure the VM is fully shut down, then right click it in the manager UI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Please review the instructions again, the log you provided is truncated - probably grabbed while VirtualBox is still running, also it was not zipped.

I can tell you that giving your VM 2 CPU cores will make it less prone to hanging.

The installed Guest Additions are 6.0.0, making them very out of date. That may also explain why the shared clipboard seems to be failing: you should disable the shared clipboard (in the VM settings) until the Guest Additions are updated.

Ok I have made the CPU count from 1 to and 2. Please find the logs when vm is shut down state.

Thanks for the new log, which is now complete and zipped. However it still shows Guest Additions 6.0.0. The latter are the additions bundled in Ubuntu - you need to purge these and install the additions that came with your VirtualBox 6.1.30 installation. See the user manual, chapter 4.

The log also still shows one CPU core allocated. Perhaps you hadn't launched the VM since making the change.

You can continue using the ancient 6.0.0 Guest Additions if you prefer, but you'll probably have to live without a shared clipboard. Shared folders and accelerated graphics hopefully still work though.
