Hi all


I have several computers, one of them is running Windows XP SP3 (32bit).
This computer has VirtualBox installed on it, from quite many years ago.
It is VirtualBox v4.2.6.


I would like to uninstall it, and instead install the last version that is good for Windows XP SP3, 32bit.
When going to the Downloads page, there's no mention about which version I should choose.


Does anyone know a webpage in VirtualBox's website, that mentions what is the right version to download?

We discussed this in your other topic, but to answer it here for others:

I'm not aware of a version vs host-support webpage. But one can use section 1.4 in the manuals to see what host OSs a version supports. Use this link:

and replace Z.Y.X with the desired version number you want to investigate.

Successively-approximating the manuals, I discovered that 4.3.40 is the last version that officially supports XP hosts.

Note that lack of official support does not necessarily mean the version won't run on that host OS. It only means that bugs arising from using that host OS and that version together won't be investigated or fixed.

I still had an XP host at the time, so I know from personal experience that v5 ran on XP hosts.

Support for all 32bit hosts was removed in v6.0.0. The last version before that was 5.2.44, so that's the one I'd try.

For obvious reasons there is no documentation on which versions unofficially still ran on which hosts.
