How to enable virtualisation technology in VM not on Host, to run Windows 11 Android Subsystem?

Post by jmar83_the2nd »

Hi there

Does somebody know how to do that? I realized that the "Windows Subsystem for Android" requires virtualisation technology - but the system where Win11 with Windows Subsystem for Android runs is a VM itself... VT and PAE/NX is enabled on VM entry in the VM host system (Win10 Pro x64)

Thank you very much for your feedbacks.

WSA runs on Hyper-V, which requires SLAT, which is not passed through into the VM by Virtualbox.

So a Virtualbox VM cannot run Hyper-V, so no WSA.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

But for what is that? Isn't that for using Hyper-V virtualization engine on VirtualBox..? I was always thinking that, but maybe i'm wrong...?

Why that link https://i.ibb.co/fqt4R5y/123.png between [img]-Tag does not work?

IMG tags only work for items previously uploaded to the forum through Upload Attachment. See your forum "User Control Panel", Manage Attachments.

The nested virtualization tag allows Virtualbox to pass VT-x through to the VM. But Hyper-V requires more than just VT-x.

This refers to the nested virtualization VM setting: <vm settings>|System|Processor|Enable Nested VT-x/AMD-v.

The purpose of this setting is to allow one VirtualBox VM to run inside another. Hyper-v is not supported as a nested hypervisor, and VirtualBox does not currently pass through some of the other CPU features Hyper-v needs anyway.

Basically, the software you are trying to run assumes hardware features not provided by the VM.

That's what I get for not checking what is actually in the settings...
