How to turn off virtualbox turn off tpm passthrough?
Hi there
I want to install Win11, but i want to install it without TPM (=total surveillance into direction "Brave New World" in combination with Orwell's 1984)
-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4-fNZAB2Mg
How to realize that, to turn off the tpm passthrough on VirtualBox?
Thank you very much for your feedbacks...
Kind regards, Jan

The Virtualbox TPM is supposed to be only available in 7.0, which is being previewed in the 6.1.97 "Development snapshot" test builds
If you decide to try a test build, save the installer file, because you'll need it if your host PC's MSI installer database goes south on you (they do sometimes, it is Windows after all) and the test build installers get deleted from virtualbox.org when the nest official version comes out.
According to the PDF manual coming with 6.1.97, see the Doc folder in the Virtualbox install folder, Virtualbox's TPM can be either a pass-through of the host's TPM or a virtual TPM independent of the physical host's TPM, or turned off altogether. Vboxmanage has TPM commands, search the PDF for tpm

OH - i was thinking that my stable VirtualBox version relese 6.1.30 is already supporting it... because of that i disabled it on the whole computer... ;-)
That registry "hack" [YT video] worked too... Thank you very very much for your feedback. :D

The registry hack is apparently to make Windows 11 run without a TPM, as best I understand.
Re: How to turn off virtualbox turn off tpm passthrough?
If you do grab the 6.1.97 test build there are place holders for a software TPM, but be aware that there are no release notes or info on what has been implemented and/or is in a working state in 6.1.97 for TPM and other Windows 11 "stuff".
If you are going to try 6.1.97 then I would advise using a script to install the Windows 11 guest as this will save yourself a bit of time in the long run as you will need to adjust tings as the 6.1.97 releases progress and new guest installs may be needed to use the new features like TPM when it is completed.

Go to File menu > Tools > Extension Pack Manager.
Also, please use Upload Attachment to show pictures. PNGs are best.

Thank you very much. Then v6.1.97 is more like v7.x than 6.1.x...? So to say a preview for v7.x?

Re: How to turn off virtualbox turn off tpm passthrough?
Another question: Which API from VirtualBox web services does v6.1.97 support? Is not just the GUI like v7.x - also the web service api? (VBoxWebSrv.exe)
My question is because of "phpvirtualbox"... i would like to install that 6.1.97 version, but i'm not sure it is API-compatible to current stable 6.1.x version...?
Thank you very much for your feedbacks. :-)
