Windows 10 freezes after a few seconds - Monterrey

Hello.

I've tried to search in the forums and I tried many things but no use...

I'm running Virtualbox in my MacBook Pro retina 2017 with Mac OS Monterrey.

I have the virtual machines stored in an external SSD connected with USBC.

I installed extension pack and enabled USB 3.0. But still the same.

Windows 10 is the only OS I am having this problems. I also have Windows XP, Windows 7, MS-DOS, and Xubuntu.

The machine does not crash. I am able to click the red button and close the machine. But the system freezes and does not allow me to do anything.

Thanks in advance.

It looks as though you have overcommitted memory. You need to close some other programs that you have running, or decrease the amount of RAM you have allocated to the VM.

Code: Select all

00:00:01.568071 Host RAM: 8192MB (8.0GB) total, 3874MB (3.7GB) available
.
.
.
00:00:01.706964 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000100000000 (4 294 967 296, 4 096 MB, 4.0 GB)
I would also suggest updating VirtualBox to the current release VirtualBox 6.1.30

A couple other things after Granada29's suggestion :

Upgrade the Guest Additions in the VM too. They're at 6.1.16. Normally, behind-the-times GAs doesn't cause trouble, but since you're using 3D acceleration it may be good to have up-to-date GAs.

The flatline reports in the log occur in conjunction with failure to start the audio. If updating to 6.1.30 Virtualbox and GAs does not stop the freezes, and you don't need audio in the VM, consider disabling audio in the VM's settings, at least as a test, and please report back what happens.

Hi all.

I just disabled audio in the VM; and gave the VM 3 instead of 4 GB (out of 8 mu MacBook Pro has), and now it works perfect.

Thanks a lot!! :) Best wishes for holiday season
