Network configuration

Hello,

VirtualBox version 2.0.2 on Windows 2003
guest1 is Debian4
guest2 is Fedora9

On guest1:
debian4:~# netstat -nr
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
10.0.2.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth2
0.0.0.0 10.0.2.2 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth2

ifconfig eth2 display IP address 10.0.2.15

On guest2:
fedora9:~# netstat -nr
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
10.0.2.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
0.0.0.0 10.0.2.2 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1

ifconfig eth1 display IP address 10.0.2.15 like guest1

So the two guests have the same IP address (10.0.2.15 but not the same interface (eth2 and eth1)

Question: How can I configure VirtualBow to get different IP addresses for the two guests with DHCP?

Why do you want that? With NAT, they can only access internet and some network resources from your local network, they will never be able to see each other. If you want that, you either set up Internal networking, or Host Interface as described in the manual.

For the reason they are different interfaces, on what interface number did you set them, and did you change the emulated NIC or MAC address in any way? Those conditions cause Linux to create a new interface.
