Sharing One Drive on Windows Host with Linux Mint VM

Post by Dogwalker-Ken »

Hi,
I have been able to successfully use Shared Folders to give my Linux Mint VM access to my OneDrive Files on my Windows Host. I chose this route rather than using a 3rd party program in Linux Mint to access One Drive as I figured the Shared Folders approach would be more robust. It all seems to work fine. Note, this is a personal playground for self study, not a production environment. Any thoughts or comments? Anyone with experience on a similar configuration? I don't want to risk corrupting my One Drive Files.

My Environment in case you are interested:
  • Host PC - Windows 11 Professional Build 22000.318 (Latest Production Version as of this post)
    Virtual Box - Version 6.1.28 r147628
    Guest Additions - Version 6.1.28
Linux VM - Linux Mint 20.2
Note - My VMs are NOT Stored on One Drive.
Thanks.

Ken

It's not usually considered kosher to share a share. If the VM needs access to the share then it would usually be configured to have it's own access, and not depend on the functioning of an irrelevant intermediate.

On the other hand, sharing a share allows you to replace the OneDrive folder with a host PC folder without affecting the VM.
