Virtual Box Host interface Error in UBUNTU Hardy

Post by hananlynx »

Hi im currently using Ubuntu 8.04. I have instaleed Vbox 2.02 and my guest OS is solaris 10. i also guest additions installed and every thing was working smoothly. My network setting's were using NAT. However i wanted to run two solaris zones and have instances of apache running in both. i dnt know that much about NAT. i Tried pinging the guest OS(solaris) but it didnt happen. i thot maybe NAT doesnt work this way so i tried Host interface settings but it said chmod the /dev/net/tun .so i did. know it gives this error

Failed to initialize Host Interface Networking.
VBox status code: -3100 (VERR_HOSTIF_INIT_FAILED).

Result Code:

Component:
Console
Interface:
IConsole {d5a1cbda-f5d7-4824-9afe-d640c94c7dcf}

Asking for a response first within 30 minutes, and later within 90 minutes of the OP is a really bad thing. You don't just bump your topic unnecessary, but you also make others less willing to help you.

The manual describes how to create a proper Host Interface and a bridge. Use the permanent interface method. Use the search methods described in the Forum Posting Guide for help on this subject. It has been asked numerous times before and a solution is given each and every time.

I'm locking this one, due to the information already available on the forums, and kicking your topic in a small time frame.
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
