Bridge Connections greyed out with XP host and XP VM

Post by ridergroov1 »

XP Pro SP3
2GB Ram
Core 2 Duo CPU

I am running another XP SP3 VM on my computer but I cannot bridge the connections to a host interface so i can access my local network. The option is grayed out when I try it. I'm running this at home on Vista x64 and have no problem with this feature. Any help?

The "Bridge" menu item in XP "Network Connections" dialog will only be enabled (not grayed) when you have two network devices selected, one being the VBox Host Interface, the other being your lan connection.

Do you have those two items selected?

If not, first select "VBox Host Interface" by clicking on it, then Ctrl+Click on the "Local Area Connection" item. Now right click on either one and you should see that "Bridge..." is now enabled. Bridging the two items will cause you to lose your network and internet connection - frightening! - but a host reboot will fix that.

Right I do know how to do it. I have it working no problem on my Vista machine. I've rebooted and the bridge option is still grayed out.
